In addition, to working on his own farm, in his earlier years he worked for Mr. Harvey S. Ladew as a chauffeur and part time grounds keeper. Today the grounds are known as Ladew Topiary Gardens on Jarrettsville Pike, this is where his love of flowers and gardening took shape. Victor loved helping his church, West Liberty United Methodist with fund raisers, such as sub sales and offering his auctioneering abilities at their annual dinners. He was a respected elder at West Liberty and had many friends. Victor worked as a machinist at Caterpillar Tractor Co. in York, PA for over 30 years. Prior to retirement, He started a home lawn mower business which kept him busy until the age of 86, when he finally stopped working. He enjoyed helping people, repairing their mowers and even picking up their mowers, if they had no way of getting them to his shop. No wonder he loved to collect John Deere tractor Memorabilia! He enjoyed spending time with his two granddaughters, Lauren & Olivia Goodwin, and was very proud of their accomplishments.
