Alfred Beard Cooper

Alfred Beard Cooper, 90, passed away Tuesday, October 2, 2018. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Eileen E. (Kauffman) Cooper. Born in Peach Bottom Twp., Alfred was the son of the late Herbert E. Cooper, Sr. and Ada Mary (Neeper) Cooper. Alfred proudly served in the U.S. Army during World War II, in the South Pacific theatre and under the Hq. det., Sugamo Prison Command during the war trials of Japanese Military Officers. He retired from the Aberdeen Proving Ground, MD, after 40 years of civil service. He was a life member of the Delta-Cardiff Vol. Fire Co. where he previously held offices in the Ambulance Division. He was the Past Grand Master of Mt. Hebron I.O.O.F., Delta, and a life member of Mt. Zion Lodge # 74 I.O.O.F., York. Alfred was the Past President and Director of the Tabernacle Church Cemetery Association, member of the former John S. Murphy VFW Post #7130, Delta, and a life member of Benedict-Meade VFW Post #7046, Stewartstown. He was a long time member of Faith Orthodox Presbyterian Church, Fawn Grove, where he served as Treasurer for many years. Surviving in addition to his wife, Eileen, are his nieces. He was preceded in death by his brother, Herbert Cooper, Jr. and a sister, Sarah (Cooper) Walker. There will be a graveside service on Monday, October 8, 2018, at 1 p.m. at Mt.
