On March 24, 2017, Alice Kathryn Ecker, 100, died at home with her family by her side. She was the wife of the late Sterling M. Ecker. Public viewing will be held from 11 a.m. until a funeral service begins at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, March 29, 2017 at the J.J. Hartenstein Mortuary, Inc., 19 S. Main St., Stewartstown. Interment will follow in Stewartstown Cemetery. Pastor Larry W. Parlett will officiate. Alice was born June 10, 1916 in Hanover to the late Albertus and Cora Riffle. She was a member of the Daughters of America and a member of the Stewartstown United Methodist Church for 79 years. She played the piano for the church Sunday school for 60 years. Alice was an avid Orioles fan and an avid reader of poetry, which she recited often. She also enjoyed word find games and crossword puzzles. Surviving her are three children, Charles A. Ecker and wife, Linda, Mildred M. Pomraning, and Dolores J. Rupp; she is also survived by several grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and great-great-grandchildren.
