It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Almeda B. Crouse (Mellinger), who was chosen to enter God’s Kingdom on September 17th, 2025. Born on January 19th, 1933, she was the daughter of the late Jennings and Ida (Markez) Mellinger. She graduated from Stewartstown High School in 1950, and would then join her hand in marriage to the late Robert L. Crouse, Sr. During this time, she moved with Bob to San Luis Obispo, California while he served a tour in the United States Army. Upon moving back to Loganville, PA, Almeda and Bob started a family and she created a loving home as a devoted stay-at-home mother to her late son, Robert L. Crouse, Jr. She would later work as a clerk at Associated Wholesalers, Inc. in York, PA, until a stroke forced her to retire early.
Almeda’s hobbies included cooking and baking, gardening, reading, playing cards, watching classic films, and crocheting. She enjoyed hosting family and friends for summer cookouts under the carport and holiday gatherings. Her true passion and everlasting gift to the world was the love and adoration she bestowed on her son, grandson, and great-grandchildren.
Almeda is survived by her grandson Robert L. Crouse III (wife Catherine) and two great-grandchildren, Henry and Caroline Crouse; also her nieces Barbara Saylor, Beverly Hershner, Bonnie Wisner, and her nephews Arthur Mellinger, Jr. and Robert Mellinger; and her sister-in-law Sheila Myers.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Almeda’s memory to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital for the benefit of lifesaving treatments for the toughest pediatric cases.
Funeral services and interment will be held privately by the family under the direction of Hartenstein Funeral & Cremation Care, Inc.
