Barbara V. McCraney

Barbara V. McCraney nee Gentsch, 85, of New Freedom PA passed away on February 18, 2026. Born on August 9, 1940 in Berlin, Germany to the late Kurt J. Gentsch and Edith M. (Vollhaus) Gentsch. She was the loving wife for 54 years to the late William Lloyd McCraney.

Barbara came to the United States in 1959 with her then husband, the late Clarence A. Barnes, Jr. Barbara spent her life taking care of those she loved. She enjoyed travelling, gardening, her birds and squirrels, the beauty of nature and her beloved Mama Cat. She was happiest surrounded by her loving family and friends.

She is survived by her daughters Danielle (husband Siebe Kooystra), Dawn (husband Steve Crockett) and son Shawn McCraney (partner Melissa Young), daughter-in-law Kristie Bope, 8 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren, sister Petra Grossi (late husband Chicco Grossi) and their daughter Giorgia Grossi.

A private Celebration of Life Service will be held at a later date.
