Benjamin Leroy "Benny" Turnbaugh, 90, died Tuesday, December 22, 2015, at home. He was the loving husband of Anna Mae (Dell) Turnbaugh and they celebrated 70 years of marriage in July 2015. A viewing will be held from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday, December 27, and 10 to 11 a.m. Monday, December 28, 2015, at J.J. Hartenstein Mortuary, Inc., 24 N. Second St., New Freedom. The funeral will begin at 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Stablers Cemetery, Parkton, Md. Born in Parkton, Benny was the son of the late Charles Frank and Anna Louise (Talbott) Turnbaugh. He was employed by the Baltimore County Dept. of Highways, retiring after 30 years of service. His true passion was farming with his brothers in Parkton, which he did for many years. Benny was a member of Stablers U.M.C. In addition to his wife, he is survived by four daughters, Darlene Vansant; Joan Brent and her husband, Norman; Betty Turnbaugh; and Donna L. Turnbaugh; nine grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by four siblings, Charles F. Turnbaugh, Jr., Vincent Turnbaugh, Sarah L. Streett, and Margaret Jamison; and a son-in-law, Kenneth Vansant. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Benny's memory to Stabler's Cemetery, P.O. Box 424, Parkton, MD 21120.
