Betty Ferguson

On Monday, February 13, 2017, Betty Jane Ferguson, 76, went to be with her parents in glory. Born in New Freedom on December 3, 1940, she was the daughter of the late Melvin and Louise (Brown) Boyer. There will be a viewing on Thursday, February 16, 2017, from 5 to 7 p.m. at J.J. Hartenstein Mortuary Inc., 24 N. Second St., New Freedom, with a funeral service beginning at 7 p.m. Interment will be private. Betty worked at Charles G. Summers Jr., Inc. during the 1950s and 1960s, but above all, was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She made it evident that her family was her life. Surviving are four children, Duane L. Ferguson and his wife, Barbara of New Freedom, Scott A. Ferguson and his wife, Lynn Paige of Seven Valleys, James L. Ferguson and his wife, Jamie Grove of Stewartstown, and Denita J. Darr and her husband, Kevin of York; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; three siblings, Doris Kline, Mary Ann Simmers, and Clara Rohrbaugh and her husband, David, all of Shrewsbury; and her former husband, Charles W.
