Betty V. Griest (Barbra)

Betty V. Griest, 79, died Thursday, March 9, 2017 at her home surrounded by her family. She was the wife of Rodney L. Griest. Betty and Rodney were married for 62 years. She was the daughter of the late George F. and Amanda (Lee) Barbra. Loved dearly by her family, she is survived by two daughters, Rhonda L. Adams and husband, Tom of Stewartstown and Vickie L. Sutton and husband, Jim of Phoenix, MD; grandchildren, Erik Adams and wife, Jennifer of Felton, Wesley Adams and companion, Marylee of Stewartstown, Shane Adams and wife, Elizabeth of Southern Pines, NC and Rebecca Schammel and husband, Matt of Westminster, MD; great-grandchildren, Logan Adams, Madison Adams and Dawson Schammel; sister, Georgeann Lewis and husband, Ed of Loganton, PA; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Betty enjoyed cooking and crafts. She drove bus for LIU for 34 years. Public viewing will be from 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday, March 13 at J.J. Hartenstein Mortuary, 19 S. Main St., Stewartstown. A funeral service will be at 2 p.m. on Thursday, March 16 at Stewartstown United Methodist Church, 26 S. Main St., Stewartstown. Interment will follow in Stewartstown Cemetery. Pastor Larry W. Parlett will officiate. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in Betty's name to the Cancer Care Associates of York, 25 Monument Rd., Suite 294, York, PA 17403.
