Betty Lou (Mays) Ensor

Betty Lou (Mays) Ensor, 88, passed on Friday, February 27, 2026, at Franklin Square Hospital. Born on May 4, 1937, in Parkton, MD., she was the daughter of the late Walter G. and Eleanor P. (Nash) Mays.

Betty was the loving wife of the Honorable John “Sunny” E. Ensor for 71 years and 7 months.

She is also survived by her son Mark Alexander Ensor and his wife the Honorable Julie Ensor; a sister E. Elaine DeMent; as well as many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her son John E. Ensor Jr.; siblings, Gladys Ensor, Maguerite Ensor, Walter G. Mays Jr. and Ruth Ann Bull.

Betty Lou was a member of Cedar Grove UM Church, former Sunday School teacher and choir member. She enjoyed assisting with the church fundraisers, vegetable & flower gardening, making amazing Easter dinners; she was well- known for her potato salads and coconut cake. She retired from the Baltimore County Schools where she was a school bus attendant for 22 years. Betty traveled to over 76 countries, 5 continents, and all 50 states.

There will be a viewing on Saturday, March 7th from 10:00-12:00 p.m. at Cedar Grove United Methodist Church; 2015 Mt. Carmel Rd., Parkton, MD 21120. The funeral service will begin at 12:00 p.m. at the church. Interment will follow in Cedar Grove Church Cemetery. Hartenstein Funeral & Cremation Care, Inc., 24 N. Second St., New Freedom, Pa 17349 is assisting the family.
