Bonnie C. Garland (Campbell)

Bonnie Garland, 87, went peacefully to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, January 7, 2017 at the Grace Retirement Village, Standardsville, VA. She was the wife of the late Nattie Garland. Viewing will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. on Thursday, January 12, 2017 at the J.J. Hartenstein Mortuary, Inc., 24 N. Second St., New Freedom. The funeral service will begin at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Mark E. Fair officiating. Private burial will follow at New Freedom Cemetery. Born July 4, 1929, in Mitchell County, NC, Bonnie was the daughter of the late James and Mary (Hughes) Campbell. She was a member of Shrewsbury Assembly of God in Shrewsbury. Bonnie and her late husband, Nattie, had celebrated 66 years of marriage at the time of his passing. Bonnie is survived by a son, Rev. Dr. Michael Garland and his wife, Bernadine of Frederick, MD; and grandchildren, Michelle Scell and her husband, Luther, Mark Garland and his wife, Ashley and Marie Garland and her husband, Richard. She is also survived by one sister, Mae Goeller of Hickory, NC; and several nieces and nephews. Bonnie loved her great-grandchildren, Jeremiah, Jordyn and Jacob Smith, Alexys Scell and Darren Garland.
