Carol Elizabeth Shenk (née Bacon), 85, went home to be with her Savior, Jesus Christ on Saturday, March 21, 2026. Born in Chanceford Township, Carol was the daughter of the late Ray E. and Muriel M. (Beck) Bacon. She was devoted to her family and her church, and she held a special place in her heart for her many cats.
Carol shared sixty-four years of marriage with her husband Barry A. Shenk, Sr., until his passing in 2023. Carol and Barry were blessed with four children: Barry A. Shenk, Jr. and his wife, Karen (Zimmerman), of New Park; Todd R. Shenk of White Hall, MD; Julie E. Rehman and her husband, Tim, of York; and Jeanne M. Day and her husband, Jim, of Glen Rock.
She was the loving grandmother of Jacob Shenk; Leah (Shenk) Landis and her husband, Zachary; Jordan Shenk and his wife, Sasha (Davidson); Zachary Rehman and his partner, Kimberly Everhart; Elizabeth (Rehman) Kramer and her husband, Brandon; Olivia (Rehman) Rhoads; Zoe (Rehman) Blackie and her husband, James. She was also the cherished great-grandmother of Cale, Carson, Adelyn, Nolan, Rylan, Titus, Barry, Canaan, Ruby, Blaze, Jackson, and Miles.
She was preceded in death by her son, Barry Jr., and her brother, Terry L. Bacon. Carol is survived by her brother, Joel L. Bacon, and his wife, Cathy Queitzsch.
Carol graduated from Kennard-Dale High School, Class of 1958. She was employed by the South Eastern School District for thirty-three years, serving most of that time as a secretary in the guidance offices of South Eastern Middle School and Kennard-Dale High School.
A faithful member of Stewartstown Presbyterian Church, Carol served as both a deacon and an elder. She was also a dedicated member of the church handbell choir for over forty years.
A celebration of Carol’s life will be held on Wednesday, March 25, 2026, at Stewartstown Presbyterian Church, 14 College Avenue, Stewartstown, PA 17363. A visitation will take place from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., followed by a memorial service at 11:00 a.m.
