Carole V. Moltz, 88, of New Freedom, PA, passed away peacefully on August 14, 2026. Carole Virginia Vogeler was born on July 31, 1938 in Baltimore, Maryland, the daughter of the late Earl Vogeler and Thelma (Culp) Vogeler. Her generosity, dedication to family, and propensity for fun will never be forgotten. She will be profoundly missed by all who knew and loved her.
On June 15, 1963, Carole was united in marriage to her husband, Carl. After meeting on a blind date and dancing the night away, they built a life centered on love, loyalty, humor, selflessness, and family, both blood and chosen.
She enjoyed her work, as it fostered her fierce independence, but her favorite “job” was being Grammy. As a constant for her grandchildren, she never missed a single sports game, choir concert, graduation, prom, or play. Grammy taught Rachel how to walk in heels and took Allison to her first musical. Neither will ever forget their Tuesday night dinners, hot milk birthday cakes, or slumber parties with Grammy. From dancing the night away with Carl in 1963, to dancing with her granddaughters at Allison’s wedding in 2024, life with Grammy was always a party.
Though she had only two grandchildren, she was known by almost everyone as Grammy, or later, Queenie. Friends and neighbors could rely on her for a ride to practice, a home cooked meal, or a few dollars for Bonkey’s sno-balls. As the archivist of Moltz memories, Carole collected photo albums and binders filled with every brochure, news clipping, report card, or announcement with mere mention of the family or their friends. She created a home filled with comfort, kindness, and stability for so many in the community.
Carole cherished her “camera worthy” moments and everything in between—spending holidays with family, watching the Orioles with her son, listening to Keith Urban with the windows down, travelling with the Pfaffs, golfing with friends, eating chocolate, and drinking wine with her daughter at Balla Cloiche Vineyards. She wouldn’t dare leave the house without her heels, and as far as any one else was concerned, she was a natural blonde to the very end.
She is survived by her son, Carl (Gina) Moltz III, daughter, Lori Moltz, two grandchildren, Rachel (Eric) Moltz and Allison (Antonio) Faro. In addition to her parents, Carole was preceded in death by her older sister, Jane McNulty, and her husband, Carl Moltz Jr.
A funeral mass and celebration of life will be held on Saturday October 3rd at 11am, at St John the Baptist Catholic Church in New Freedom, PA. Friends and family are welcome to join the family afterward at Balla Cloiche Vineyards, 14110 Clark Rd, Stewartstown, PA 17363 for lunch and refreshments.
