Carolyn Swartz

Carolyn Ann Swartz, 79, of Florida, passed away on Tuesday, March 3, 2026.

Born in Florida, to the late John “Jack” Dunlop and Barbara Ruth (Currier) Dunlop.

Carolyn graduated from high school and continued her education at Thiel College in Greenville, PA, where she received her bachelor’s degree. She worked as a teacher, school administrator, and lastly as a vice principal for Newark Public Schools in New Jersey. Her affinity for knowledge led her to a passion for trivia competitions where she excelled because of her ability to retain information.

She was exceptionally generous to those around her, supporting various charities over the years. Some of her favorite joys were traveling with friends and going for walks every day.

Carolyn is survived by her daughter Laura Virginia Swartz, sister Susan and her husband Felix Krowinski, her nephew John R. Evans, Nicole M. Evans and her son Dylan. She is also survived by her loving step son Neal Swartz, his wife Sheila, and their children Cecelia and Nina. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Ronald James Swartz in 2004.

Family and friends are invited to a viewing on Saturday, March 14, 2026 from 12pm-2pm at Hartenstein Funeral & Cremation Care, Inc., 24 N. Second St., New Freedom, PA 17349. A funeral service will begin at 2pm at the funeral home.

Interment will follow at St. Jacob’s (Stone) Cemetery in Glenville, PA.
