Catherine Runkle, 103, of Stewartstown, PA, entered God’s eternal care on Sunday, August 9, 2026, at Kingston Court Nursing & Rehab in York.

Born December 30, 1922, in Stewartstown, Catherine was the daughter of the late Harvey Daniel and Mary Jane (Thompson) Emig. She was the loving wife to Rodney A. Runkle with whom she shared 67 years of marriage until his death on Sunday, February 2, 2020.

Catherine was a lifelong resident and pillar of the Stewartstown community. She was a graduate of Stewartstown High School and then attended Thompson Business College in York. She worked as a secretary for 15 years with Adams Electric Cooperative in Stewartstown until 1975. Later, she was employed with the former Hamilton Bank in Red Lion until her retirement in 1984.

Catherine was a lifelong member of Stewartstown Presbyterian Church, and was a former choir member, Sunday School teacher for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd grades, President of the Board of Deacons, member of the King’s Daughters (Sunday School Class), and a member of the Presbyterian Women’s Association. She was also a member of the Eureka Ladies Auxiliary, as her family were founders of the Eureka Fire Company. Catherine and her late husband Rodney were strong silent supports for the Stewartstown community, both actively involved in in the continued legacy of Stewartstown.

Catherine is survived by multiple nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her seven siblings, Mabel, Phelma, Estella, Everett, Hazel, Helen, and Charlotte.

Per Catherine’s wishes, following cremation there will be a graveside service to celebrate her life at 1:00 PM, Friday, August 21, 2026, at Stewartstown Cemetery with Rev. Larry Parlett officiating.
