Charles T. Freeland

d. December 7, 2025

Parkton

Charles Thomas Freeland, beloved husband of the late Mary Elizabeth Freeland (nee Waltermyer), passed away peacefully on December 7, 2025 at York WellSpan Hospital in York, PA. Charlie was born on August 25, 1930 in Baltimore City to the late Thomas Charles Freeland and Rosa Elizabeth (“Bessie”) Freeland (nee Griffith).

Charlie worked for more than 45 years for Veneers, Inc. in Cockeysville, MD, rising through the ranks from laborer to warehouse manager to property manager; everyone at Veneers respected and admired Charlie for his hard work and dedication. After his retirement, he enjoyed collecting, restoring, and displaying old farm tractors and gasoline engines with his late son John. Charlie also served as an adult Boy Scout leader for many years. Taking advantage of Mary’s role as a trip coordinator for AARP for many years, Charlie and Mary visited many sites around the U.S. on their bus tours. Their little dog Cosmo was a source of delight for both Charlie and Mary.

Charlie is survived by sons Terry (wife Dawna) and Bill (wife Paula); grandchildren Amy Wilson (husband Corey), Brooke Kraft (husband Ryan), and Brian Freeland (wife Sarah); great granddaughters Kayla and Eleanor Kraft; and several nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by his wife Mary, son John Freeland, and his sisters Doris King (nee Freeland) and Mildred Dowell (nee Freeland). Special thanks to Rachel Bahn, Tori Jones, Charlene Smith, and Ashley Thompson, who provided much-appreciated home care to Charlie and Mary in their final months.
