David H. Dubel, 89, passed away on September 14, 2025. David was a loving husband to his wife Mary Lane (Embert) Dubel who he first met while attending Milford Mill High School, graduating, Class of 1954. He joined the National Guard and later married his wife, Mary Lane in 1958, with whom he shared the last 67 years. He graduated from the University of Massachusetts, where he received his Arborist degree. David was the founder of Paul Bunyon Tree Experts. He was the founder and owner of D. H. Dubel Mill & Lumber LLC in 1972, which is still operating today. He had a particular passion for landscaping his farm and enjoyed golf cart rides around the property to see his various flowering plants, like rhododendron, magnolias, and hydrangeas change over the years. He was an avid car enthusiast and raised Arabian horses for numerous years.
In addition to his wife Mary Lane, he is survived by their four children Melody L. Harberts and her husband Hank, Rene H. Dubel and his wife Traci, Larry D. Dubel and his wife Charlotte, and Michael L. Dubel and his significant other Amy. He is also survived by nine grandchildren Jennifer MacGregor, Dustin DePalmer, Sabrina Kirkendall, Brianna Dubel – Rodriguez, Jesse Dubel, Cole Dubel, and Reagan Dubel, and 13 great grandchildren to who he was known as “Ta”.
He was preceded in death by his parents Edward James and Ada Elizabeth (Armiger) Dubel, two brothers Robert Y. Dubel and Bruce Dubel, and his two grandsons Joseph Royston and Luke Dubel.
Family and friends are invited to the viewings held on Thursday, September 18, 2025, from 3:00 - 5:00 p.m. and 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. at Hartenstein Funeral & Cremation Care, Inc., 24 N. Second St., New Freedom, PA. An additional viewing will be held on Friday, September 19, 2025 from 10:00 - 11:00 a.m. at 21328 Millers Mill Rd., Freeland, MD 21053 with a Funeral Service to begin at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be private and held at a later date.
