David Leroy Schemm

It is with great sadness that the family of David L. Schemm, 79, of Stewartstown PA announces his passing on March 19, 2026. He is survived by his wife Donna Schemm of nearly 61 wonderful years of marriage, and his two children Allen Schemm, wife Michelle, and Lori Wooldridge, husband Tom. He has 4 beautiful grandchildren, Dale Schemm, fiancé Ashley, Faith McCourt, husband Josh, Aurora Schemm and Kyle Wooldridge, wife Emily. In addition, 7 great grandchildren.

Dave served in the U.S. Army for 3 years followed by a 33 year career with the U.S. Post Office, where he retired in 2001 giving him nearly 25 years of retirement. Dave and Donna spent 2 years in Germany when he was in the military, where they formed their love of travel, visiting many countries. Over the years they traveled back to Germany, Ireland, Yellowstone and surrounding areas 6 times, and too many amazing places to list. His favorite trip by far was a 2 month road trip to Alaska.

Aside from traveling, many know of Dave's love for gardening. He truly had a green thumb and enjoyed sharing his produce with others. He was a jack of all trades and was able to fix almost anything. He built many houses for friends and family over the years and took pride that he was able to do so. Woodworking and crabbing were among his favorite hobbies.

A Public Visitation will be at Hartenstein Funeral & Cremation Care, Inc. (24 N. Second St. New Freedom, PA 17349) from 3:00PM - 6:00PM on Sunday March 29, 2026.

It goes without saying that Dave will be truly missed by many.
