Dorothea Ann Humes

d. December 26, 2024

Dorothea Ann Humes, 68, of New Freedom, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, December 26, 2024. She was known by those dear to her as “Dottie,” “Dot,” “Mom,” and the name she was most proud of, “Mimi.”

Dot was the loving wife of the late, David B. Humes who passed on October 11,  2022.

Born in Baltimore, MD, to the late John George Zeller, Sr. & M. Dorothy (Hoyt) Zeller.

Dottie was a proud wife and mother, favorite Mimi to her grandbabies and an overall amazing woman. She had a love for cooking, enjoyed hosting many gatherings, and would always go out of her way to accommodate her guests in any way. Dottie was also known to have a silly sense of humor, the one to break the awkward silence and a smile that would light up any room she was in. Dottie had an incredible talent for making everyone feel special and loved. She loved all animals, especially her own pets. Dottie had a deep faith in God and belief that all things happen for a reason. One of the most important things to her was family.

She is survived by her children, Noah T. Humes and his wife, Diane, Lindsay M. Knudsen and her husband Rob, and David Paul Humes and his wife Kirsten; 5 grandchildren Jack, Calleigh, Wyatt, Grace, and Walker; her many cousins  Dennis and Stefanie Jones, Cindy and the late Frank Hoyt, Ann Marie and the late Michael Shanahan, Karen and Jon Skinner, Joe Klaus, Debbie and Larry Sappington, Larry and Leslie Jones; numerous brother and sister -in- laws; her Blue Cross Blue Shield friends; and the Baltimore County Police family through her husband, son, and son-in-law.

The family would like to thank the local fire department and law enforcement for their commitment and overall support during their time of need.

There will be a celebration of life held on January 18, 2025, 5pm-9pm at The New Freedom Community Center (150 E Main St, New Freedom PA, 17349). We will have a small service held at 7:30pm. We will celebrate just as she would have. There will be food, refreshments, laughter, stories of Dottie’s life and the impacts she had on us. Come dressed as you please, as our Mom always wanted everyone to be comfortable.

In lieu of flowers, Dottie wished to have donations sent to the Animal Rescue in New Freedom (https://animalrescueinc.org).

Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family.
