Eugenia "Genie" Hoshall (Black)

On Monday, August 7, 2017, Eugenia “Genie” (Black) Hoshall, 102, passed away peacefully at home. She was the wife of the late Upton M. Hoshall. Genie was born July 23, 1915 in Govans, MD to the late J. Graham and Bertha I. (Merryman) Black. Surviving her are four children, Thomas D. “Mike” Hoshall and wife Virginia, Phyllis E. Hoshall, I. Chloe Wiessner and husband Melvin, and Neil L. Hoshall; two grandchildren, Wendy L. and Keith N. Wiessner; two great-grandchildren, Quinn Wiessner and Jace Skarulis; and two sisters, Betty Francis and Nancy Leonard. She is preceded in death by her husband, parents and four siblings, Irene Hopkins, Roy and Linton Black and Jane Dix. Public viewing will be from 5 pm to 8 pm on Friday, August 11 at Hartenstein Funeral and Cremation Care, Inc., 24 N. Second St., New Freedom, PA where a funeral service will be held at 1 pm on Saturday, August 12. Interment will follow in Vernon United Methodist Cemetery, White Hall, MD. Rev. Melissa A. McDade will officiate. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Gilchrist Hospice, 11311 McCormick Rd., STE. 350, Hunt Valley, MD 21031.
