Frances K. Waltemyer

Frances K. Waltemyer, 91, of New Freedom PA, passed away peacefully on February 5, 2026 at SpiriTrust in York. Born in Stewartstown, PA, she was the daughter of the late Samuel and Katherine (Myers) Miller. She was the wife to the late Richard L. Waltemyer.

Frances graduated from New Freedom High School, and she went on to attend the York School of Practical Nursing. She was a bookkeeper at 1st National Bank of York, practical nurse, and homemaker. Frances enjoyed flowers, was an avid reader, enjoyed completing crossword puzzles, and loved listening to music, especially Elvis Presley. She would say the most meaningful part of her life was raising her family.

Frances is remembered by her four children, Richard A. Waltemyer (Sherry), Trudi L. Krout (Ken), Michael H. Waltemyer, and Deanna M. Waltemyer; 9 Grandchildren; Richard Waltemyer Jr., Adam Therit (Sara), Dayn Krout, Kelsey Proulx(Zach), Amber Krout, Tyler Warntz(Alyssia), Mike Waltemyer, Leah Waltemyer, Dalton Spurlock(Cydney), 7 Great Grandchildren; Cheyenne, Maggie, Riley, Koda, Elliana, Mason, and Avery, as well as her sister, Maxine Reisinger. She was preceded in death by her husband Richard L. Waltemyer; and her siblings, Sarah Grim, Evelyn Hughes, Ken Miller, and Stephen Miller.

A public viewing will be held at Hartenstein Funeral & Cremation Care, Inc., 24 N. Second St. New Freedom, PA 17349, Thursday, February 12, 2026 from 6:00pm-8:00pm. The funeral service will be held on Friday, February 13, 2026 starting at 11:00AM at the funeral home. Interment will immediately follow the service in New Freedom Cemetery.
