Frank Anthony Balesteri, Jr., 89, formerly of York, passed away on Wednesday, May 21, 2025.
He was the husband of Margaret Ethel (Kelly) Balesteri, whom he was married to for 68 years on September 8th, 1956. Frank was known to his Jersey City family and friends as "Bingolo."
Born February 27, 1936 in Jersey City, NJ, he was the son of the late Frank Balesteri and Amelia (Mainieri) Balesteri. Frank was a graduate of Ferris High School, Class of 1954 . He lived a long time in New Jersey and Staten Island, NY, traveling between his hometown and summer home in the Poconos. He later moved to York County in 2020. He was a parishioner of Our Lady Victory Roman Catholic Church in Tannersville, PA. and also a longtime parishioner of St Paul's church in Greenville, Jersey City. Frank assisted in the financial management of the parish and helped many of the recent high school graduates of the neighborhood begin a career in finance and business in NY.
He excelled in finance helping many institutions, parishes and other organizations over the years. Frank had a career in Banking for 35 years, working for Chemical Bank, NY.
In his younger years, he enjoyed playing golf and was always an avid sports fan. He also enjoyed extensive travels all over the world and he enjoyed wintering in Cancun, Mexico with Margaret at the villa of his son Scott. He loved horse racing and enjoyed the annual big races and the occasional trip to the track. Most of all he loved his close and extended family enjoying their outings and affairs.
In addition to his wife Maragaret, he is survived by his two sons: Christopher "Chris" Balesteri and his wife Christine and Scott Balesteri; two grandsons Frank Balesteri (Alexandra) and Daniel Balesteri. He was preceded in death by his son Frank Balesteri in Nov. 2001, his brother Nicholas (DK), his brother Joseph (Gumbo) and two sisters Concetta and Genevieve.
A Graveside Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, May 23, at Laurelwood Cemetery; 901 Bryant St., Stroudsburg, PA 18360. Hartenstein Funeral & Cremation Care, Inc., New Freedom, PA is assisting the family with services.
