Gloria Jean Thompson

Gloria Jean (Brown) Thompson, of New Park, Pa, passed away on Sunday, May 31, 2026. She had just celebrated her 89th birthday.

She was the daughter of James A. Brown and Elsie (Bryson) Brown, born on May 19, 1937, in York County Pennsylvania. She was the loving wife of the late Perry Dale Thompson, whom she was married to for 65 years.

She was a Kennard-Dale High School graduate, class of 1955. Afterwards, she worked at Aberdeen Proving Grounds until she married. Gloria then joined Dale as he served in the military, living in Turkey, Morocco, Italy, Maine, Maryland, and Hawaii, before she moved back home.

Gloria was a keen gardener, loving her flowers. She would also take in all the strays that would show up at her door, as well as all the critters that surrounded her, having a great love for animals. Gloria also crafted and shared a special friendship with a wonderful group of ladies who got together for over 50 years. Her family and friendships are what gave her the most pleasure in life.

Gloria is survived by her daughter Lori (Thompson) Jones (husband Nigel) of Frederick, MD. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her son, Daryl Thompson. She has four grandchildren: Ryan Jones (wife Sandy Lu), Maegan Jones (husband Patrick), Andrew Thompson, Jacob Thompson (wife Maddie), and her great-grandson Jackson. Also, her Daughter-in-law Suzanne Thompson, her Brother-in-law Roger Thompson (wife Cordie), Nephew Steve Thompson (wife Kristine), Niece Jen Rebert (husband Chad, and family).

Funeral services will be held at Centre Presbyterian Church; 83 New Park Rd., New Park, PA, on Saturday, June 6th. Viewing from 10:30 till 12:00 p.m., followed by a service and then a luncheon.
