Ida May "Gidge" Martin (Tomlinson)

Ida May “Gidge” (Tomlinson) Martin, 64, passed away Thursday, August 3, 2017, at York Hospital. She was the beloved wife of Stephen H. Martin, Sr., whom she married August 28, 1971. They have been together since they were 14 years old. There will be a visitation celebrating Gidge’s life from 2:30-4:30 p.m., Thursday, August 10, 2017, at Hartenstein Funeral & Cremation Care, Inc., 24 N. Second St., New Freedom, with a memorial service beginning at 4:30 p.m. Interment is private and at the convenience of her family. Born in Baltimore, MD, Gidge was the daughter of the late Harry L. and Gertrude (Hood) Tomlinson. She enjoyed singing, playing guitar, was in a band in her younger years, and even sang with Bob Dylan. Gidge attended St. Mary’s Episcopal Church in Baltimore and sang in the church choir. Surviving in addition to her husband, Steve, are three children: Lachelle Marion and her husband, Dennis of Baltimore, Herman Martin and his wife, Rhonda of Jacobus, and Stephen H. Martin, Jr. and his wife, Deborah of Baltimore; 8 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; a brother, Donald Tomlinson and his wife, Paula; and 2 nieces. Gidge was preceded in death by a step-father, Charles Schultz, a sister, Alice Tomlinson, and a brother, H. Leigh Tomlinson.
