Janet Louise Matteson of Shrewsbury was called home on January 3rd, 2026 surrounded by her family. the wife of the late William Donald Matteson with whom she shared 58 years of marriage. Born on October 7, 1934 to the late William Leroy and Mary Ellen (Wagner) Difenderfer in Lewisburg, PA
Janet graduated from Mill Hall High School before becoming a telephone operator, cafeteria clerk at James H Harrison elementary school and later retiring from the Shrewsbury Lutheran Home. Along with her husband, the co-founded the SYC girls softball league and was a lifetime member of the Shrewsbury VFC. She loved playing bingo & cards, vacations with family to Chincoteague and trips to Corn Hill Hunting Cabin.
Janet is survived by her children - Darla (Rick) Lehman, Jerry (Gail) Matteson, Judy (Ed) Eckard, Teresa (Steve) Bohlen; grandchildren - Terri Lehman, Craig (SoPheap Chan) Lehman, Cindy (Edward) Lehman, Jennifer (Owen) Clark, Jessica (Kevin) Leavenworth, Cheyenne (Billy) Bohlen, Devon (Bailey) Bohlen and Sierra (Jesse) Dersken; great grandchildren will grow to 18 after the birth of a great grandson and a set of twins.
Janet was preceded in death by her brother, Kenneth Leroy Difenderfer.
