Janet L. Shuman, 78, died Thursday, July 21, 2016, at Homewood at Plum Creek, Hanover. She was the daughter of the late Elmer G. and Margaret E. (Brenneman) Fisher. A viewing will be held from 9 to 11 a.m. on Wednesday, July 27, 2016, at J.J. Hartenstein Mortuary Inc., 24 N. Second St., New Freedom, with the funeral service beginning at 11 a.m. The Rev. John C. Dorr, Jr. will be officiating. Interment will be in Bethlehem Steltz Cemetery, Glen Rock. Born June 3, 1938 in York, Janet retired in 2003 from AMP as a machine operator; previously, she was employed with Hanover Shoe and had worked for several sewing factories in the area. A member of Bethlehem Steltz Reformed Church, Glen Rock, she also attended New Hope (Fissels) UCC in Glen Rock. She enjoyed embroidery, quilting, and had a passion for cooking. Surviving are three children, Charles E. Kohler, Jr. and wife, Lori of Glenville, Daniel R. Shuman and wife, Debra of Glen Rock, and Michael A. Shuman and partner, David Fleming of Camp Hill; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a brother, Robert Fisher and his wife, Judy of Glen Rock. Janet was preceded in death by a brother, Kenneth "Sonny" Fisher.
