Jimmy Duane Strothers

1956 — 2025

Parkton, MD

Jimmy Duane Strother, 69, of Baltimore, Maryland, passed away at his home on Friday, June 13, 2025.

Born on January 10, 1956, in Jacksonville, North Carolina, Jimmy was the son of the late James Raymond Strother and Patricia Ann (Flint). A man of many talents and deep compassion, Jimmy was known for his resilience, creativity, and generous spirit.

A true jack-of-all-trades, Jimmy had an extraordinary ability to fix, build, and maintain anything he put his hands on. Whether working on cars, tending to the yard, or handling household repairs—even while on oxygen—he remained committed to helping those around him. His passion for cooking was equally remarkable. From thoughtful plating to inventive creations like a carved watermelon basket, Jimmy took great pride in sharing his love through food. He even catered for his sister-in-law’s wedding, a testament to his skill and dedication.

Jimmy found joy in life’s simple pleasures, like singing along to “The Snake” by Billy Gilman with his niece and pouring love into everything he did. He was a fighter with unwavering determination—a man who, as those who knew him often said, seemed to have "24 lives."

He is survived by his devoted wife of 28 years, Teresa, whom he lovingly credited with inspiring him to change his life for the better. He also leaves behind his daughter, Mellisa Strother; his brother, Howard Strother (Cathy); and five cherished grandchildren: Mike, Raleigh Ann, Alyzah, Justinah, and Heavenly and nieces Vicky and LeeAnn, and many nieces and nephews.

Jimmy was preceded in death by his parents; his siblings Pamela Brady, Clyde Strother, and Jeffrey Strother; and his beloved children, Duane Strother and Justin Strother.
