May 27, 1937 — Aug 23, 2026

York

Joan Myra Schiner, 89, of York, peacefully entered God’s eternal care surrounded by her loving family, Sunday, August 23, 2026, at home.

Born May 27, 1937, in Baltimore, MD, she was the daughter of the late Herman and Lillie (Kessler) Waghelstein. Joan was the loving wife to Harold Bennet Schiner with whom she shared 47 years of marriage until his death on May 28, 2006.

Joan was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend. She was a wonderful homemaker who loved spending time with her family. She enjoyed hosting pool parties every summer in the backyard, where she would supply buckets of “Nosh”, and she also loved spending quality time with her family, in which she always insisted on Ben & Jerry’s Chocolate Fudge Ice Cream or everyone having chocolate in general. Joan loved animals and cared for many cats over the years, and recently loved spending time with her dog Parker. Some of her other favorite pastimes included traveling and going on cruises with her late husband, Harold, watching soap operas or Hallmark movies, getting her hair styled weekly and her nails done every other week as well. Some of Joan’s favorite places to have traveled and visited were Spain, Italy, Morocco, Alaska and France.

Joan is survived by two daughters, Robin Kelly and her husband Marty of York, and Jamie Franco of Hanover, four loving grandchildren, Hilary Good and husband Scott, Jennifer Franco, Lindsay Coats and husband Wayne, and Ryan Kelly, as well as six great-grandchildren, Veronica Good, Colin Good, Elijah Coats, Camden Coats, Samuel Coats and Sawyer Coats. She was the loving aunt to Lori (Fine) Adamson and Craig Fine, and is survived by numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends. She was preceded in death by her sister, Natalie (Waghelstein) Fine.

Services will be private and at the convenience of the family.
