Joey Andrew Gillespie

Joey Andrew Gillespie, 66, passed away Friday, June 23, 2017. He was the son of the late George S. and Mary E. (Jones) Gillespie. There will be a viewing from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, June 28, 2017, at J.J. Hartenstein Mortuary, Inc., 19 S. Main St., Stewartstown, and on Thursday, June 29, from 9 to 10 a.m. A funeral service will begin on Thursday at 10 a.m. with the Rev. John Harman officiating. Interment will follow in Susquehanna Memorial Gardens, York. Joey was born September 23, 1950, in Tazewell County, VA, and proudly served in the U.S. Army. After his discharge, he worked in construction as a heavy equipment operator. He was a member of the Benedict Meade V.F.W. Post 7046, Stewartstown, was an avid fisherman and hunter, and enjoyed watching game shows. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Surviving are two brothers and two sisters, Brenda G. Asbury, and her husband, Oscar, Edward "Turtle" Gillespie, Mark Anthony Gillespie, and Angela J. Harr; a niece, Adele Gillespie, who was a caregiver; and numerous additional nieces and nephews. He also leaves his twin puppies, Sally and Susie. He was preceded in death by siblings, Bobby Wesley Gillespie, George "Lynn" Gillespie, and Patricia Mae Blouse.
