John D. Grimek

John D. Grimek, 66, of Shrewsbury Pa., passed away on Saturday, January 31, 2026, after a long illness. Born in York, Pa, he was the son of the late John C. Grimek, I, and Angela C. (Liberto) Grimek. He was also preceded by his stepson, Eric J. Moffitt. He was the loving husband to Susan K. (Getz) Grimek.

John was a graduate of York Suburban High School, 1977. After high school he attended York County Vocational School and graduated in 1994 with a nursing degree. He had 30 satisfying years in the nursing profession. His favorite pastimes were fishing with his kids, golf, bowling, playing darts and watching PBS. He had played on a softball league with friends as well as playing football in high school. John also liked to exercise his distinctive colorful vocabulary.

John was a fantastic cook and enjoyed making all different types of food for family gatherings and holidays. He also loved decorating for the holidays, the bigger, the bolder, the better.

He is survived by his wife, Susan; children, John C. Grimek, II, Jakub A. Grimek (Daniell), and Cory D. Moffitt; grandchildren, Jeremy T. Moffit (Minday), Jadyn A. Moffitt (Sam), Justin M. Moffitt (Lauren), Annabell L. Moffitt, and Bronx L. Bair-Grimek; and 2 great grandchildren; siblings, Regina Ewig, Patricia Stover, Bonnie Day, Robert Grimek, and Steve Grimek (Sue); many beloved nieces and nephews; and his cherished dog, Cookie.

There will be a Mass at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 2935 Kingston Rd., East York, Pa 17402 on Monday, February 16, 2026, at 11am with a visitation at 10am.
