Jonathan M. "Jon" Abbott

On July 14, 2016, Jonathan M. "Jon" Abbott, 37, died at York Hospital. He was the son of the late Kathy (Weaver) Biser and Raymond Biser. A public visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, July 19 at J.J. Hartenstein Mortuary, Inc., 24 N. Second St., New Freedom. A graveside service will take place at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, July 20 at Mt. Zion United Methodist Cemetery, 20901 Mt. Zion Rd., Freeland, MD 21053. Rev. Dr. Chester V. Joines will officiate. Jon graduated from Susquehannock High School in 1998. He was a member of the Glen Rock Hose and Ladder Company and the Southern Pennsylvania Communications Group of Shrewsbury. On October 1, 2013, Jon received the William "Bill" Molnar WA2ORG Memorial Amateur Radio Community Service Award. He was passionate about being active in, and helping, his community. He is survived by a brother, Nathaniel Biser, his wife Kelly and their daughter, Jazlyn; and grandparents, John and Judy Weaver. Jon was preceded in death by his mother, and his beloved grandmother, Dorothy (King) Weaver. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory are recommended to the Glen Rock Hose and Ladder Company, P.O. Box 95, Glen Rock, PA 17327.
