Surrounded by her loving family, Joyce Mary Clasing (née Lindner), 84, peacefully passed away on Saturday, December 27, 2025. Formerly of Orangeville, Maryland, she was the beloved wife of the late Harold “Hatsy” Clasing, with whom she shared 50 years of marriage before his passing in 2008.
She is survived by her children: Mark Clasing; April Clasing Burtnett and her husband James; Dawn Clasing Black and her husband Dennis; Scott C. Clasing and his wife Teresa; Wendy Clasing Flowers and her husband Dean; and Shawn J. Clasing and his wife Debra. She was a cherished grandmother to Gregory, Ashlee, Cathy, David, Lisa, Kaitlin, Rachel, Christopher, Daniel, Lauren, Molly, and Hanna, and a proud great-grandmother to Sophie, Ella, Benjamin, Luke, Kolten, Reagan, Mason, Morgan, Harper, Hunter, Cal, Blake, Brooke, Jillian, Cara, Scottie, Lily, Leah, Southern, Isla, and Freya. She is also survived by her sisters, Margaret Jones and Stephanie Smith; many cousins, nieces, and nephews; friends; and her beloved caregiver, Megin Clasing-Crone.
She was preceded in death by her grandson, Mark Jason Clasing; her parents, Henry and Ethel Lindner; and her siblings, Christopher Lindner, Warren Lindner, and Mary Hoffmaster.
Joyce treasured her family above all else and was especially known for her warm, strong hugs. Sweet, kind, and thoughtful, she had a way of making everyone feel loved. She especially enjoyed her gardens and flowers, finding great joy in tending to them. She loved walking along the beach and collecting seashells, especially at sunrise; collecting teapots; long, thoughtful conversations; and traveling. Joyce stayed active through swimming and walking, and she loved reading and journaling. In addition to raising her family, Joyce was a long-time executive secretary at Allied Kelite as well as Dunbar Armored in Baltimore. She will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
A funeral service will be held at 7:00 p.m. Friday, January 2, 2026, at Hartenstein Funeral & Cremation Care, Inc., 19 S. Main St., Stewartstown, PA. Friends may attend the viewing from 2:00–4:00 p.m. and 6:00–9:00 p.m. A Catholic Mass will be celebrated Saturday, January 3, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 315 N. Constitution Ave., New Freedom, PA, with interment following in the parish cemetery.
