Larry Edwin Seitz, 80, passed from this life on March 11, 2022. Born in York, he was the son of the late Clark E. and Marguerite R. (Godfrey) Seitz. A 1959 graduate of Susquehannock High School, Larry proudly went on to serve in the U.S. Army from January 1964 to December 1965. Larry was a banker all of his life, and a bank manager for most of those years, and was employed at several financial institutions over the span of his long financial career including the Commonwealth Bank, Dallastown Branch, and the Bank of Hanover. He also worked at the York News Company from his teens to the age of 78; he worked in the Treasurer’s Office of the York Fair for 51 years; and he worked part time at the Safeway Grocery Store for 25 years. He was a 50-year member of the York Lodge No. 266 F. & A.M. and a member of the Zembo Temple; life member of the York County Agricultural Society, York; member of Corn Hill Hunting & Fishing Club, Dallastown Post 605 American Legion, Red Lion VFW Post 1446, and the Quarterback’s Club. Over the years, Larry owned several race horses; he loved his family, his horses, and he enjoyed working. Surviving is a son, Gregory L. Seitz of Shrewsbury; a grandson, Brandon Miller; a great grandson, Gavyn Miller; a companion, Shirley Mellinger; a brother, Stephen Seitz and his wife, Dianne; and numerous nieces and nephews. Larry was preceded in death by a sister, Nancy Dostermann. There will be a viewing from 10 a.m. – 12 p.m. on Friday, March 18, at Hartenstein Funeral & Cremation Care, Inc., 24 N. 2nd St., New Freedom, PA 17349 with a funeral service starting at 12 p.m. Interment will follow in Joseph Giesey Memorial Cemetery in Shrewsbury with military honors.
