d. December 11, 2025

New Park

Larry Lee Strawser, 82, of New Park, PA, passed away peacefully at Penn State Hershey Medical Center on Thursday, December 11, 2025. Born in McAlisterville, PA, he was the son of the late Lehman Edwin and Ruth Ellenore (Ehrenzellers) Strawser. He was the loving husband for the past 18 years to Bonnie (Duckworth) Strawser.

Larry was educated in Stoney Run, a one room schoolhouse in Juniata County, PA, graduated from Carlisle Area Highschool, and received a degree at DeVry University in Illinois. Larry was a mechanical contractor for most of his life, working in the family business, Lillie Inc. When Lillie Inc. dissolved, he became Director of the Maintenance Department at Bethany Village. After retiring, he worked for Home Depot in Shrewsbury where many customers would wait to talk to him for his expert advice. He was a long-time member to Stewartstown Baptist Church; he enjoyed deer hunting and fishing. Larry also enjoyed taking trips down south to help lead crews for Habitat for Humanity with their home building projects. You could often catch him in his workshop working on his woodworking projects; he especially enjoyed building porch swings which many homeowners in New Park have hanging on their property.

Larry is survived by his wife, Bonnie Strawser (Duckworth); children, Michael Doporcyk, Dawn Jacobs (Strawser), Lee Strawser, Amy Emlet (Strawser), Tonya Hamlin, Tara Ferstermann, and Tory Kerr; 24 grandchildren, and an ever-growing list of great grandchildren; and four siblings, Sonny Strawser, Ronald Strawser, Donald Strawser, and Suzanne Strawser. He was preceded in death by his two children, Kim Croak (Strawser), Dennis Doporcyk; and his sibling Ruthann Stansfield (Strawser).
