Leona Mae Shaffer (Freed)

On April 19, 2017, Leona Mae (Freed) Shaffer, 99, passed away at York Hospital. She was the wife of the late Russel S. Shaffer. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, April 24 at J.J. Hartenstein Mortuary, Inc., 24 N. Second St., New Freedom. Interment will follow in New Freedom Cemetery. Leona was born December 8, 1917 in Steltz to the late Paul and Irena (Stiffler) Freed. She is survived by her children, Joan Lindecamp-Gutshall (Jeff), Dennis Shaffer (Adona), Robert Shaffer (Debra), Thomas Shaffer (Karen), Barbara Doran (Patrick), Michael Shaffer (Bonnie), Suzanne Steinour (William), Steven Shaffer (Holly), David Shaffer (Mary Lynne) and Deborah Maas (Harald); 24 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, parents and an infant, Scott.
