Lois L. Jay, 85, formerly of Spry, died Monday, May 2, 2016, at SpiriTrust Lutheran, Sprenkle Drive, York, PA. She was the wife of the late Wendell Lee Jay. There will be no public viewing or visitation. A public Graveside Service will be held at New Freedom Cemetery, Campbell Road, New Freedom, PA at 11 a.m. on Monday, May 9, 2016. The Rev. Hank Steinhilber will officiate. Lois was born May 19, 1930, in Shrewsbury Township, a daughter of the late Spurgeon and Almeda (Taylor) Orwig. Lois was formerly of Spry, grew up in Maryland Line, Md. and was a 1947 graduate of Sparks High School, Sparks, Md. She graduated from Thompson Business College in York and worked at the former B.M. Roots Co. and the former Bears Dept. Store for seven years. Lois also worked at York Township polling places for many years. She was a member of Christ Lutheran Church in Spry. Lois is survived by two sons, David L. Jay and his wife Jan Marie of Dallastown, Robert L. Jay and his wife Cindy of Shermans Dale; and three grandchildren, Emily, Rachel and Brandon. She was predeceased by a grandson, Garrett. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to SpiriTrust Lutheran Foundation, 1050 Pennsylvania Ave., York, PA 17404. J.J.
