Lucy Carter Maseth, age 89, passed away on Wednesday, January 28, 2026.
Lucy was a loving wife to the late Earle G. Maseth and a dedicated mother and grandmother.
Born in Markham, VA, she was the daughter of the late Norbert M. and Lucy Maria (Carter) Caillouet.
Lucy graduated from Hereford High School, Class of 1954 and from Maryland General Hospital School of Nursing, Class of 1957. She was a Maryland resident from 1944 to 1996, when she moved to New Freedom, PA until 2019. In 2019 she moved to Carroll Lutheran Village Retirement Community in Westminster, MD to be closer to family until the time of her passing. She worked as a registered nurse, specializing in geriatric healthcare in Ruxton and Towson, MD. She also worked as a private duty nurse in various hospitals and nursing homes throughout Maryland. She was a member of the Maryland General Hospital Alumni Association, Ladies Auxiliary VFW, Post # 9083, Parkville, MD, Women’s Aglow International Organization, WA, Freedom Community Church Shrewsbury, PA , New Freedom Lioness Club and was a Melvin Jones Fellowship Award winner.
She is survived by her three children Robert D. Maseth and his wife, Susan, of MD, Lynn M. Jones and her husband Joseph of TN, and Thomas E. Maseth of MD, and grandchildren, Ashton L. Drummond (Conor), Emily C. Maseth (Patrick Schwind), Benjamin T. Hallam, Matthew Hallam, and Samuel Hallam, sister Mary C. Patterson, and numerous nieces & nephews.
She was preceded in death by her siblings Marie G. Caillouet, Magill Caillouet, Jean C. Hammond, and Louise C. Luckenbaugh, and her parents Norbert M. Caillouet, Jr. and Lucy Maria (Carter) Caillouet.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at a Saturday, March 7, 2026 at The Krug Chapel at Carroll Lutheran Village; 300 Luke Circle, Westminster, MD 21158. There will be a visitation from 1:00 - 2:00 p.m. and a service beginning at 2:00 p.m.
A private interment will be at New Freedom Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
