Mabel Ellen (Leonard) Wilson, 91, passed peacefully on February 20, 2026.
Mabel is survived by four children; Sharon Clabaugh (Greg), Sandra Evans (Kevin), Steven Wilson (Kelly), Scott Wilson (Lisa), five grandchildren, Mark & Matthew Clabaugh, Cassidy, Renee & Haley Wilson, sister Juanita Thompson. She was preceded in death by husband Frank Lindsay Wilson, Jr, brothers Elmer, Carl, Henry and Roy Leonard, sister Myrtle Bair, granddaughter Sierra Cahoon and great-grandson Nolan Cahoon.
Mabel was born on January 7, 1935 in Harford County MD to parents Estel Daniel and Flora Mae (Crouse) Leonard. She worked at Beta Shoe company while attending North Harford High School until she graduated in 1952. After graduation she worked in the office at Aberdeen Proving Ground before marrying her late husband in 1954 and moving to Parkton, MD where she lived for 72 years.
Mabel loved God, her family, church and 4-H. While raising her family she did all the bookwork for the farm, milked cows, fed calves, heifers, gathered eggs and did field work. She touched the lives of many people with her endless volunteer hours to 4-H programs. She encouraged hundreds of youth to work towards a goal as she led the White Hall 4-H Club for 20 years. She was a member of 4-H All Stars and chosen as outstanding leader of youth in Baltimore County. She held many offices in other organizations too.
She was Vice President and treasurer of the 4-H Leader’s Association, treasurer of 4-H All Stars and secretary and treasurer for the Baltimore County Holstein club for many years. She worked at the Maryland State Fair Home Arts Building for 18 years. She worked in the office, was a division supervisor and judged entries there and at other 4-H fairs in MD. After her family was grown she worked at the Baltimore County Soil Conservation Office. She worked countless hours promoting the Lord through West Liberty United Methodist Church.
She served on many committees, SPPRC, nomination, trustee, daycare and as chairman of ushers. She helped with funeral luncheons and a monthly fundraiser making subs. She faithfully served those in need for over 20 years by collecting and distributing food at Baltimore North Cluster Food Bank.
On Tuesday, February 24, 2026, the family will receive friends from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at Hartenstein Funeral Home, 24 N. 2nd St., New Freedom, PA 17349 prior to the service beginning at 11:00 a.m. Interment at West Liberty Church Cemetery will follow with a luncheon afterwards.
