Mae Thornton, 85, of Norrisville, mother of Mae Ferguson and Robin Lucas, stepmother of Denise Woods, Butch and Doug Thornton, went to be with the Lord on September 28, 2018 after a long illness, surrounded by family. Family and friends are invited to a visitation at 11 am until a memorial service starts at 11:30 am on Saturday, October 6, at Hartenstein Funeral & Cremation Care, Inc., 19 S. Main St., Stewartstown, with Rev. Otto Mazzoni officiating, her former pastor at Shrewsbury Baptist Church, where she attended. Mae was born in 1933, in Elkton, Md., a daughter of the late James and Bessie Thompson. Mae was a Baltimore City school teacher, a real estate agent and in her later years, a devoted volunteer. She was also an avid reader and loved gardening and baking. Surviving are her children, named above, plus 12 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren, including Christin Rapp-Patterson; 3 great-great granddaughters; and 2 brothers, John and Tom Thompson. Mae was preceded in death by her husband, James Thornton, and her son James Hammond.
