Marilyn E. Paton

Marilyn E. (Willett) Paton, 91, of York, formerly of Hampden, MD, passed away on SpiriTrust Lutheran in York on Tuesday, May 5, 2026. Born in Baltimore, she was the daughter of the late Harry S. and Dorothy (Smith) Willett. She was the loving wife of 45 years to the late John T. Paton, Jr. when he passed in 2000.

Marilyn graduated from Clara Barton High School in Baltimore. She was a homemaker most of her life but did work for Howard Heiss Jeweler for a little while. Her neighbors always had nice things to say about Marilyn; she was such a sweet lady and amazing person. During her time at SpiriTrust, she enjoyed playing Bingo.

She is survived by her two children, Nancy McNicholas and her husband Jim, and Dorothy Kirsch and her husband Bill; 7 grandchildren, James M. McNicholas, Jr., John T. McNicholas, Christopher McNicholas, Michael Williams, Jr., Amy Nwaba, William Kirsch IV, and Hannah Porter; 14 great-grandchildren; and son-in-law, Mike Williams. She was preceded in death by her husband; two daughters, Mary Paton and Bonnie Williams; and her grandson, Andy Williams.

Family and friends are invited to a viewing on Wednesday, May 13, 2026 from 6-8pm at Hartenstein Funeral & Cremation Care, Inc., 24 N. Second St., New Freedom, PA 17349. The funeral service will be on Thursday, May 14 at the funeral home at 10am. Interment will immediately follow the service in Druid Ridge Cemetery, 7900 Park Heights Ave., Baltimore, MD 21208.
