Martha A. Cornett (Deal)

September 18, 1942 — June 9, 2017

Martha A. Cornett, 74, went to be with the Lord on Friday, June 9, 2017. She was the loving wife of Stuart W. Cornett and they celebrated 59 years of marriage on April 28, 2017. There will be a viewing on Wednesday evening, June 14, 2017, from 7 to 9 p.m. at Immanuel Baptist Church, 21133 Barrens Rd. S., Stewartstown, and on Thursday morning from 10 to 11 a.m. There will be a funeral service on Thursday, June 15, at 11 a.m. at the church with the Rev. Larry Wilson officiating. Interment will follow in Antioch Baptist Cemetery, Stewartstown. Martha was born September 18, 1942, in Forsyth County, NC, daughter of the late Carl E. and Ruth Charles (Barnes) Deal. She was the stepdaughter of the late James Timothy Hackler, who was a wonderful father and an inspiration to her. Martha worked for Crescent Industries Inc. of New Freedom for almost 20 years, retiring as a lead press operator. She enjoyed gardening, traveling, crafting, scrap booking, and most of all, spending time with her beloved family. She was presented with an honorary State Farmer degree from the Maryland FFA Assoc. Her life exemplified Christ's call as a Proverbs 31 wife and mother. Surviving in addition to her husband, Stuart, are four children, Terry L. Cornett of Richmond, VA, James Cornett and his wife, Marie of Petersburg, WV, Lisa A. Orwig and her husband, Robert of Stewartstown, and Cindy L. Hetrick and her husband, Karl of Shrewsbury; five grandchildren, Joseph Bon, Nicole and Brandon Glatfelter, Debra and Leslie Cornett; 10 great-grandchildren; three siblings, Beverly Hanus of Yorkana, Barry Hackler of Newport, and his partner, Sandy Horning and Mark Hackler, and his wife, Tammy of Peterstown, WV; 26 nieces and nephews; and many friends and loved ones. She was preceded in death by a nephew, James Barry Hackler, Jr. If desired memorial contributions may be made in Martha's memory to: Immanuel Baptist Church, P.O. Box 220, Stewartstown, PA 17363.
