Mary Margaret Harrison (Brown)

Mary Margaret Brown Harrison, 97, passed away Wednesday, March 1, 2017. She was predeceased by her husband, Marvin E. Harrison. Born July 21, 1919 in Fawn Grove, she was the daughter of the late E. Glenn and Jennie (Towson) Brown. Mary graduated from Fawn Township High School in 1938. After graduation, she attended cosmetology school in York. She was employed at Edgewood Arsenal in the early 1940’s. Mary enjoyed being with her family, gardening and growing flowers. Mary was the oldest life-long member of Fawn United Methodist Church, and she served the church in many capacities throughout the years. She is survived by three children; Nancy McFadden and husband, Gordon of Fawn Grove, William Harrison and wife, Judy of Pylesville, MD, and Martha Gemmill and husband, David of Delta. Surviving grandchildren are James (Karen) and Robert (Angela) McFadden, Jason (Amy) Harrison, Nicole (David) Thurman, Gregory (Mandy) Gemmill, Steven (Emily) Gemmill, and Eric (Jessica) Gemmill. Great-grandchildren surviving are Heather and Benjamin McFadden, Hannah and Zoe Harrison, Cooper and Eli Thurman, Tyler, Mason, Everett, Mary Ella, Charlotte, and Baby Gemmill. A visitation will be from 10 am to 11 am on Tuesday, March 7, 2017 at Fawn United Methodist Church, 67 S. Market St., Fawn Grove. Pastor David Stough will officiate the funeral service beginning at 11 am. Interment will be in the adjoining church cemetery. J.J. Hartenstein Mortuary, Inc., Stewartstown, is assisting the family with arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to Fawn Grove Cemetery Association, PO Box 28, Fawn Grove, PA 17321.
