Mary A. Hoffman (Portas)

Mary A. Hoffman, 92, died Monday, February 27, 2017, at Country Companions Assisted Living, Taneytown, MD. She was the wife of the late Carroll E. Hoffman. A viewing will be held on Friday, March 3, 2017 from 10 to 11 a.m. at Bethlehem Steltz Reformed Church, 5890 Steltz Road, Glen Rock, with a funeral service to begin at 11 a.m. Her pastor, Rev. John C. Dorr, Jr. is officiating. Burial is in the church cemetery. Mary was born September 30, 1924, in Codorus Township, a daughter of the late Louis J. and Margaret (Orban) Portas. She was a member of Bethlehem Steltz Reformed Church and was active with the South Central York County Senior Center in New Freedom. Mary is survived by three daughters, Phylis Gipe of York, Mary Lou Lam of Waldorf, MD and Carol Lynn Gantz of Glen Rock; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; and a sister, Teresa Gheen of Tampa, FL. Mary was preceded in death by four brothers and four sisters.
