Mary Jane Smith (Perkins)

Mary Jane (Perkins) Crist Smith, 80, of Dover, passed away on Tuesday, July 25, 2017. She was the wife of the late Donald G. Smith, Jr. and the late Robert Crist. Born in Baltimore, MD, Mary was the daughter of the late Hugh L. and Hazel M. (Atkinson) Perkins. There will be a viewing on Tuesday, August 1, 2017, from 11:30 p.m. until 1:30 p.m. at Hartenstein Funeral & Cremation Care, Inc., 24 N. Second Street, New Freedom. A Vigil Service will begin at 1:30 p.m. with Rev. Sylvan Capitani officiating. Interment will follow in the New Freedom Cemetery. Mary worked at Louden Park Funeral Home and Cemetery as an administrative secretary to the General Manager from 1995-1996, and also formerly worked with Precision Tune Auto Repair in Baltimore from 1982-1994. She was also an accounting supervisor with the former Montgomery Ward, Baltimore.At age 47 she received her G.E.D. and went on to receive her Associates Degree in Accounting & Business Management. She was an avid collector of angels. Mary is survived by a son, Robert L. Crist Jr. and his wife, Susan; a step son, Doug Smith; grandchildren, Carrie Campbell, Jeremey and Jason Crist; and a stepson, Christopher John Campbell; a sister-in-law, Beverly Crist of York; and dear friends, Scott and Shelby Garrity. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Barbara Ann (Crist) Campbell, a granddaughter, Erin Kelly, a brother, Wilbur F. “Mickey” Perkins, a sister, Nancy L. O’Dell, and a special friend, Nancy L.
