Mazie Ann "Susie" Rogers (Thompson)

Mazie Ann "Susie" (Thompson) Rogers, 73, died at her home on Tuesday, April 19, 2016. She was the wife of Philip A. Rogers, living at home. There will be a viewing from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday, April 23, at Captivate Community Church, 95 Pumping Station Road, Hanover, followed by an 11 a.m. service with the Rev. Vern Annis officiating. Burial will be in New Oakland Cemetery, Sykesville, Md. Arrangements are by the J.J. Hartenstein Mortuary, Inc. of New Freedom. Born September 12, 1942, in Oakland, Carroll County, Md., Susie was the daughter of the late Marvin V. and Ramona (Anderson) Thompson. Susie had retired in 2008 as a registered nurse for Hanover VNA. She was previously employed with Hanover Hospital, Carroll County General Hospital, the Carroll County Detention Center, Sinai Hospital, Black & Decker of Hampstead, Md., and for the late Dr. Robert Altland, M.D. Susie loved reading, country western music, swimming, and needlework. She was a member of Captivate Community Church of Hanover. In addition to her husband, Philip, Susie leaves a daughter, Wendie A. (Schaeffer) Case and her husband, Allan of Glenville; a son, Jeffery L. Schaeffer and his wife, Lisa of Glenville; six grandchildren, Bambi Hartlaub and her husband, Aaron, Allan Case, III and his wife, Lindy, Jennifer Schaeffer and her companion, Joseph Miller, Colbi Case, Victoria Schaeffer, and Dal Case; four great-grandchildren, Anna, Axel, Declan, and Tripp; a sister, Esther Elaine McLaughlin and her husband, John of Millersville, Md.; a brother, Thomas Thompson of Finksburg, Md.; and her beloved pet cats, Sam, Priscilla, and Patches. Contributions in Susie's memory may be made to Captivate Community Church, 95 Pumping Station Road, Hanover, PA 17331; or to Carrollton Church of God, 1901 Carrollton Road, Finksburg, MD 21048.
