Stewartstown

Michael “Mike” Malooly, 69, of Stewartstown, passed away at Wellspan York Hospital on Tuesday, June 16, 2026. Michael was born on July 16th, 1956 in Baltimore City to the late William J. Malooly, Jr. and M. Patricia (nee Holmes) Malooly Brooks.

After high school, Mike began working for C&P Telephone Company, in the Plant Department as a repair technician. Mike remained a technician with the Company through many name changes, first Bell Atlantic and finally as Verizon. From there, Mike went on to work in I.T. at Johns Hopkins University, until his retirement in December of 2022. Mike had a thirst for knowledge and information, which often showed up in his conversations with others and his love of trivia.

Those who knew Mike would often describe him as a good man, a very warm person who was easy to talk to, very intelligent, a wordsmith, a history buff, very funny with a wicked sense of humor and quick wit.

Mike enjoyed playing cards with friends, fishing, he loved watching the Baltimore Orioles and the Baltimore Ravens (when they were winning), had a great love of watches and clocks, as well as all genres of music. He also enjoyed collecting sculptures of big cats, birds of prey and an extensive collection of turtle sculptures.

A great lover of animals both in nature and domestic, he enjoyed observing the wildlife that came into our backyard and playing with our cat Clyde. Mike was very proud of his Scottish and Irish heritage.

He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Cynthia “Cindy” (nee Starling); beloved cat Clyde; sister, Patricia “Patti” Horowitz and her husband Jeff; niece, Jessie Mades and her husband Will; nephew, Jarrett Horowitz and his wife Sara; and great nieces, Anna and Zoe Horowitz.

A Celebration of Mike’s life will be announced by the family at a later date. Donations may be made in Mike’s memory to: Heavenly Paws, 3678 Aldinger Rd., Seven Valleys, PA 17360.
