Michael V. Snyder, 81, of Glen Rock, passed away at home surrounded by family on Tuesday, July 29, 2025. Born on July 31, 1943, in Cumberland, Maryland, he was the 2nd loving son of his late parents, Albert Earl and Margaret Leona (Diggs) Snyder.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Barbara A. (Willnecker) Snyder; daughters, Laura S. Calp (John Calp), Dana M. Snyder (James Chavis); son, Jason Snyder (Jacqueline Arsenault); grandchildren, Andrew Geppi (Rachel), Brandon Geppi (Courtney), Brianna Chavis, Hunter Chavis; great-grandchildren, Violet, Ava, and Olive; and two siblings, Maria Snyder, and David Snyder. He was predeceased by his parents, and brother, Charles Snyder.
Michael graduated from Bel Air High School Class of 1961 in Bel Air, Maryland. He entered the U.S. Navy in October 1961 where he served as a Boatswain Mate for over 4 years. Michael received his maintenance machinist license from Bethlehem Steel in Dundalk, MD. He then went to work for Four Roses Distillery as a maintenance machinist in Dundalk for about 15 years until they closed. He also worked for Owens-Brockway-Illinois, who were purchased by Graham Packaging, where he retired from in 2007. Michael moved his family to Glen Rock, PA in 2008 where he and his family became members of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in New Freedom, PA.
Family and friends are invited to a viewing on Monday, August 4, 2025 at Hartenstein Funeral & Cremation Care, Inc., 24 N. Second St., New Freedom, Pa 17349 from 5-7pm. A graveside service will be held Tuesday, August 5, 2025 at 10am in St. John the Baptist Catholic Cemetery, 315 N. Constitution Ave., New Freedom, PA 17349.
