Mildred (Sechrist) Whipperman, a beloved mother and grandmother, passed away peacefully on January 24, 2026 at the age of 97.
Mildred was born September 9, 1928, in Railroad PA, the daughter of the late William (Gerry) and Carrie (Mundis) Sechrist.
She met her husband Marshall while working at the former Charles G. Summers Jr. Company. They married in 1948 and shared almost 60 years of marriage until his passing in 2007. Mildred worked as a print press operator for Young and Selden and retired from George Transfer Inc. in 1990. She loved staying home on her farm and lived a quiet, simple life. Going to church at St. Abrahams Lutheran was very important to her and she will be remembered for her applesauce raisin cake, rice pudding, and coconut cream pies that she baked for church suppers. She enjoyed ice cream, puzzles, word searches, and being with her family.
She was preceded in death by her husband Marshall Whipperman, their daughter Brenda Blevins, son in Laws Joseph Blevins and Charles Sutton as well as her four siblings Ruth Tassi, Curtis Sechrist, Martha Kearney and Margaret Lackey.
She is survived by her children Diane Wheeler and her husband Dale, her daughter Daryl Sutton, her son Byron Whipperman and his wife Teresa as well as numerous grandchildren, step grandchildren, great grandchildren, step great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
Viewing will be from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 7, 2026 at Hartenstein Funeral & Cremation Care, Inc., 24 N. Second St., New Freedom, PA 17349.
A funeral service will begin at 12:00 p.m. with Rev. Susan Roy officiating.
Interment will be in Middletown Cemetery, Freeland, Md.
