Patricia J. Bird

Patricia J. Bird, 80, died December 21, 2015, at ManorCare South, York. She was the wife of Walter E. Bird. Following cremation, a visitation is scheduled for Saturday, January 2, 2016 from 10 to 11 a.m. at J.J. Hartenstein Mortuary, Inc., 24 N. Second St., New Freedom. A Celebration of Life Service will begin at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Mortuary, with the Rev. Grace Gravelle officiating. Burial will be in Beechwoods Cemetery, New Rochelle, N.Y. Patricia was born September 2, 1935, in New Rochelle, N.Y., a daughter of the late Richard S. and Josephine (Thomas) Fillis. Patricia was a graduate of New Rochelle High School and Concordia College in Bronxville, N.Y. She was formerly employed as a Medical Secretary for Life Extension Examiners in NYC and with Macy's in Bay Shore, N.Y. Patricia was a Charter Member of Calvary Lutheran Church in Hauppauge, Long Island, N.Y., and a member of Christ Lutheran Church in Shrewsbury. She enjoyed sewing, crafts and collecting teddy bear ornaments. Patricia and Walter relocated from Long Island to Shrewsbury in 1979 and celebrated 54 years of marriage in 2015. Patricia is survived by her sister, Elaine Criscione and her husband John of Melbourne, Fla.; and two nieces, Sandra Blake and Susan Knoll. She was predeceased by a brother, Thomas R.
