Paul M. Barnhart

On March 3, 2017, Paul M. Barnhart, 88, passed away at York Hospital. He was the husband of Janice M. (Shaull) Barnhart and the late Elaine G. (Markel) Barnhart. Paul was born February 11, 1929 in North Hopewell Township to the late Myrl E. and F. Edna (Flinchbaugh) Barnhart. Public viewing will be from 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, March 7 and 9 a.m. until a funeral service begins at 10 a.m. on Wednesday at Pleasant View Church of the Brethren, 10384 Winterstown Road, Red Lion, PA 17356. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Dwayne, Bradley and Troy Runkle will officiate. Paul was a truck driver for Yorktowne Kitchens, Inc. of Red Lion for 37 years before retiring in 1992. He was a National Truck Roadeo Runner-Up twice (1962 & 1963), Mid-Atlantic Truck Roadeo Champion five times and PA Truck Roadeo Champion nine times. He was a member of Pleasant View Church of the Brethren in Red Lion, former member of the Antique Auto Club of America in Hershey, member of the Gettysburg Region Antique Car Club and was an avid Pedal Car and antique toy collector. He is survived by his wife Janice; children, Jill L. Sechrist and husband, Ralph Speece and Jack K. Barnhart; step-children, Dwayne A. Runkle and wife, Karen, Bradley R. Runkle and wife, Patty and Troy J. Runkle and wife, Tammy, Frank Wise and fiancée, Kristie Weaver, Crystal Markel and husband, Randy and Robin Miller and husband, Ken; one granddaughter, Tami Hartenstein and 12 step-grandchildren, Cassandra Simpkins, Angie Stuth, Keith Runkle, Sarah Gordon, Stacy Boston, Lauren Miles, Tyler Runkle, Travis Wise, Logan Wise, Nicole Markel, Robert Markel, and Ryan Miller; one great-grandchild; 12 step-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by five siblings. In lieu of flowers, donations are recommended to Pleasant Hill Cemetery Association, 10384 Winterstown Rd., Red Lion, PA 17356.
