Philip Allison Stake, 73, died Saturday, May 28, 2016, at his residence. He was the loving husband of Shirley (Matava) Stake and they celebrated 52 years of marriage on April 5, 2016. A viewing will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, June 2, 2016, with Mason rites by Shrewsbury Lodge No. 423 F&AM at 7:30 p.m., and 10 to 11 a.m. Friday, June 3, at J.J. Hartenstein Mortuary, Inc., 24 N. Second St., New Freedom. The funeral service will begin at 11 a.m. Friday with the Rev. Kevin L. Becker officiating. Interment will be in the New Freedom Cemetery. Born August 1, 1942, in New Freedom, he was the son of the late Bowden Benedict and Ruth Estella (Klinefelter) Stake and stepson of the late Christine (Keeney) Bollinger Stake. Philip graduated from Susquehannock High School Class of 1960 and the Humboldt Institute of Traffic Management of St. Paul, MN. Philip was a distribution center manager with Danaher, of MD. He was an active member of the Bon Air Country Club, Glen Rock, since 1954 and was a member of the Shrewsbury Masonic Lodge #423 F&AM. Surviving, in addition to his wife, is a daughter, Vicki Lee (Stake) Winters of New Freedom; two grandchildren, Rebekah (Reba) Mae and Aaron Philip Portner; two sisters, Shirley Amber (Stake) Seitz and her husband, David of Glen Rock, and Donna Elaine (Stake) Orwig and her husband, Dale of Jarrettsville, MD.; two stepsisters, June (Bollinger) Good and her husband, Ronald of Ephrata, and Peggy (Bollinger) Thomas and her husband, Kenneth of New Freedom.
